Substance which consists of only one type of atom is known as element.
So we can say that, an element is a substance which is made up entirely from the one type ofatom.
Example of Element
Element Hydrogen, ElementCarbon, Element Oxygen, Element Nitrogen, Element Chlorine, Element Iron, Element Copper, Element Gold, Element Silver, etc.
ElementCarbonis made from atoms containing sixprotons, six neutronsand sixelectrons. Symbol of element carbon is ‘C’. Atomic Number of element carbon is 6. Atomic Mass of element carbon is 12.0107 amu. Melting Point of element carbon is3500.0 °C (3773.15 K, 6332.0 °F). Boiling Point of element carbon is4827.0 °C (5100.15 K, 8720.6 °F). Element Carbon is classified asNon-metal. Crystal Structure of element carbon isHexagonal. Density @ 293 K of element carbon is2.62 g/cm3. Color of element carbon isgenerally black.
If you wish to change the number of protons in an atom than ultimately you change the type of element.
Elements are the substance that consists of only one type of atom.
Molecule has two different atoms.
Elements contains one or more of same type of atom.
Element Hydrogen – 1 proton per atom
Element Carbon– 6 protons per atom
Element Oxygen– 8 protons per atom
Element Copper– 29 protons per atom
Element Gold– 79 protons per atom
Labeling of Element in Periodic Table
2–Proton Number- it shows what element it is. (Atomic Number)
He–Name of the Element
4–Total Atomic Weight- Number of Protons + Number of Neutrons.
